Greece, with its extensive number of ports on the
mainland and multiple islands, has an extremely efficient
and sophisticated ferry system. Ferries can be of great
help to those wanting to charter a sailing yacht in
Greece. There are also multiple flights from Athens to
the islands.
If, for instance, you want to sail in the Dodecanese
Islands in the eastern Aegean, or in the Ionian Islands,
but you don't want to spend valuable sailing time getting
there and back from Athens,  you can use a ferry or an
inter-island flight to get there, then arrange for us to meet
you with our yacht. The new ferries in Greece are luxe
and fast -- they travel at 30 to 40 knots -- and the ferry
harbors are usually close  to the yacht harbors. Finding
flights from the mainland to the islands is also easy and
efficient. (Click on the links at left for more information).
During your charter, you can also use ferries to visit
islands that, due to distance or weather conditions, are
difficult to get to by sailboat during the time of a normal
charter. For example, if you arrive at Paros island in the
Cyclades by noon on a given day, you can visit that
island; then, the next morning, you can get the ferry to
Santorini, visit that island, and be back by night. In this
way you'll save about 100 miles motoring between
Paros and Santorini (the distance is too great to do
under sail in limited time), which will maximize your 7 or
10 valuable sailing days.
With our help, you can create a realistic and interesting
sailing itinerary that will give you the opportunity to really
SAIL  AND EXPLORE Greece.
